Nice fenced-in dog park located in Carmel Valley. Tends to get larger dogs. To get there, take first left off of Lansdale just north of Del Mar Heights Road. Go into parking lot and past Torrey Pines High School tennis courts. There is park and play structure for kids just a few yards away. It’s up on a knoll and the area has a beautiful view of the canyons and Rancho Santa Fe.

This dog park is the closest one to my home, so it’s most convenient. It’s right behind Torrey Pines High School. The main downside is that there is no separate area for small dogs and large dogs, so the small dogs tend to get bullied or rough housed if they show up at all. My chihuahua mix used to love playing with other dogs, but because of a few traumatic experiences of being chased by larger dogs like dobermans and german shephards, she is much less inclined to initiate playing with another dog, even if the dog is small; she’s more timid than before. The fenced, leash-off part is dirt and the leash-on part next to it is much larger and grassy. I find that the leash-off area is a little too small for me. It is a very well-kept dog park with a doggie drinking fountain, and most of the owners are friendly, polite, and clean up after their dogs. If I had a big dog, I would most likely continue to visit the park, but because of my dog’s situation I’ll be moving to a different park where there are separate areas for small and large dogs.
